Before reporting bugs...

If there is a major issue affecting a lot of users - you don't have to report it. We already know about it and are working on a fix. You can use WebIDE chat to track the progress.

Unfortunately, sometimes there are issues that affect very few users - maybe just you - and we would like you to report it.

In order for your report to be useful, we need to know what you were doing at the time, the exact sequence of clicks that lead to it, the contents of your JavaScript console, all of open network connections and what data was transferred over them (the contents of Network tab within Developer Tools) etc. Most people find it difficult to collect all this information, and they often do it wrong. Thats why we use browser extensions to do it for us. If you are paranoid about browser extensions and believe that you can write a bug report like a senior QA engineer, by all means - do that instead.

How to report a bug

If your problem is that your program doesn't work or doesn't provide the output that you expected, or it fails the tests - please contact your tutor first. If there is bug, your tutor will contact us with more details.

Before reporting problems with WebIDE please try the following steps:

  1. Upgrade your web browser to the latest official version.
  2. If that doesn't help, please install Google Chrome. If this resolves your issue, you can try the steps below with your preferred browser. Be advised that WebIDE currently doesn't support the following browsers due to severe issues: Internet Explorer, Opera.
  3. Try to access WebIDE using Incognito Window. Click on the three dots in upper right corner and choose option "New Incognito Window". If WebIDE works in Incognito Window, you should take the following steps to resolve issues in regular browser window:
    1. Log out of WebIDE
    2. Wait 30 minutes
    3. Log in again, but do not click on the webide icon in upper left corner.
    4. Click on the option Profile in upper right corner.
    5. Click on the link Reset WebIDE configuration.
  4. Install Google Chrome extension named Bird Eats Bug. Watch Instruction video to see how it is used. Record your session while you reproduce your problem. When uploading your session choose option Log in with Google, then choose your the institution account. Choose existing workspace named WebIDE. Then paste the link to your recording into the bug report textfield below.
